Gentle Fall
A choice-by-choice guide to Gentle Fall
This page walks through every decision in the current Gentle Fall preview, explains what each one changes, and suggests what to try on a second run. It spoils structure but not the final scene. If you would rather go in blind, play once in the window above and come back afterwards.
A quick orientation first. Gentle Fall is a yandere otome visual novel seen through the eyes of a student you name yourself, and the build hosted here is the rebuilt opening chapter. One full read-through takes about twenty minutes, so trying several combinations is easy.
Name and nickname
Before Gentle Fall begins you type a name and, optionally, a nickname. Leave the nickname blank and the game simply reuses your name. Chester uses your name at the moments that count, which makes some of his lines feel noticeably closer than a generic “you” ever could.
Morning: personality and height
The first menu in Gentle Fall asks how you feel about a day spent meeting people. Welcoming it marks your character as assertive; dreading it marks them as shy. The second menu asks what you see in the mirror: short, average or tall. Height only changes one line of narration, the moment Chester first looms over your desk, so pick whatever fits the character you imagine.
Personality matters more in Gentle Fall than height does. It decides how Chester opens his first real conversation with you. A shy protagonist hears that he has noticed how rarely you speak to anyone. An assertive one hears that he has noticed how easily you do. Either way, the takeaway is the same: he has been noticing.
Brook Brews and the order that matters
At the café you pick a plain black coffee, a latte or a matcha latte. It feels like set dressing, and for most of the day it is. Hold on to that answer anyway, because it resurfaces near the end in a way that is far more personal than anything on the menu. If you replay Gentle Fall only once, change your drink.
The collision with Lukas right after you order happens no matter what you choose, so there is no need to save-scum the café scene.
Meeting Chester, the yandere of Gentle Fall
Chester appears beside your desk with a quiet “Is this seat taken?” and asks you to be his partner for the lab workshop. You then choose your first impression of him (kind, intimidating or beautiful), and each option gives you a different line of inner monologue.
The bigger decision follows. When the conversation turns personal, you finish the sentence “Honestly…” with either “I am not that good with people” or “I don’t have anyone close to me yet.” This second answer overwrites the personality you picked in the morning, so it is the one that sticks. If it contradicts what Chester expected, he tells you so out loud, which is its own small warning sign.
The Gentle Fall notebook scene
After the workshop Chester leaves a small black notebook on the desk. You take it with you, meaning to give it back, and later that afternoon in the library you knock it to the floor and it opens at a bookmarked page. We will leave the contents for you to discover. Pay attention to how quickly he turns up afterwards, and to how much more he smiles than he did in the lab.
Endings and replay value
There are no branching endings in the Gentle Fall preview yet. Every run reaches the same closing night scene and an end-of-preview message. What changes are the lines along the way: the narration, the way Chester reads you, and the page you see in that notebook. The original 2023 version of Gentle Fall offered platonic and romantic paths, and the remake is building toward multiple endings as new chapters arrive.
Two runs of Gentle Fall cover nearly everything. Go shy, black coffee and “kind” the first time, then outgoing, matcha and “intimidating” the second, and compare the conversations. The History button in the lower right corner makes it easy to reread anything you clicked past too quickly.
For completionists, the Gallery on the Gentle Fall title screen currently holds a single illustration: Chester’s first appearance in the classroom. It unlocks the moment you reach that scene, so every playthrough collects it.

Gentle Fall FAQ
Does my coffee order actually matter?
Yes. It is the choice with the most memorable payoff, because it changes a page you see near the end of the day. Order something different on your second run and watch for it.
Should I pick the shy or the assertive personality?
Both play out in full. The morning pick shapes how Chester opens the conversation, but your answer to the 'Honestly...' menu overwrites it, so that is the one that counts. Shy draws a sympathetic Chester; assertive leads him to reflect on how your struggles mirror his.
Does my height change anything?
Only a single line of narration, when Chester first stands over you and the game describes how much bigger he is. It is flavour, so choose freely.
Is there a romance route in this version?
Not yet. The preview is the opening day and plays out the same way whatever you pick. The romance and the yandere tension build through Chester's behaviour, and branching routes are planned for later chapters.
How many endings does Gentle Fall have?
The current build has one conclusion: a night scene followed by an end-of-preview message. The title screen already ships alternate artwork for romance, friendship and bad endings, which hints at where the full release is going.
How do I skip text I have already read?
Use Skip in the lower right corner. It fast-forwards through lines you have already seen, so a second run with different choices only takes a few minutes. Auto advances the text on its own if you would rather just watch.
What should I know before playing?
The game warns about stalking, psychological abuse, drugging without consent, panic attacks, pet death and minor jumpscares, and the wider story touches on suicide and self-harm. The warning screen shows only once, so read it.
